Homemade Döner in Pitta Pockets
Ingredients
- 8 thin beef/lamb steaks
Filling
- 1-1½ tsp. water from top of yoghurt
- ½ -1 tsp. sunflower oil
- 1 onion, grated or v. finely chopped to
- a mush
- Oregano
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Paprika
- Cayenne
- Salt
- To serve: Pitta breads or hamburger buns,
- Salad, hot salsa
Method

Flatten the steaks between clingfilm with a rolling pin. Take the first 4 steaks and make into a square, slightly overlapping each other.

Mix together the filling ingredients and cover this layer with the mix. Cover with the next 4 steaks.

Now starting with the edge nearest to you, roll up the meat like a swiss roll. Wrap in aluminium foil and put in the freezer.

When you are ready to use it (made in the morning it is ready by evening), take it out and slice thinly. Fry in melted butter and serve in warmed pitta pockets with a finely chopped mixed salad and the hot salsa.
